Volkswagen Golf "Polizei"

The Volkswagen Golf is a production icon of the Wolfsburg automaker. It was presented in the spring of 1974 and immediately became a very successful product. The first series (1974-1983) in fact adopted technical solutions highly appreciated by the market of the time: front water-cooled engine, front-wheel drive, solid and robust bodywork with a functional but at the same time captivating design. The good quality/price ratio was the real "competitive lever" that decreed the success of the Golf. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975, the sporty Golf GTI version was presented, which adopted the 1,600 cc 110 HP engine capable of delivering high performance. The following year, mass production of the Golf GTI began, which in just two months achieved excellent commercial results in numerous European and non-European countries. The version used by the German Police during the 1970s and early 1980s is a symbol of everyday life in that historical period.
